Product Description
New Genuine OE Rail Pressure Relief (Limit) Valve Cummins 4899831
Fuel pressure relief valve failures may cause:
- Lack of power, due to low rail pressure (link to blog post)
- Poor fuel economy, due to a weak pressure relief valve.
- P0148, P0087 or P1093 low rail pressure, depending on the vehicle
- The pressure relief valve (limit valve) is in the fuel rail; it is designed to limit rail pressure to avoid damage to your injectors. If the rail pressure is excessive, the relief valve will open and bleed off pressure into the return system. The pressure relief valve may start to leak, prematurely, not allowing the rail pressure to build to the correct pressure. This means the injectors do not get adequate rail pressure. Many will take the option to simply block off the relief valve, which works, but it does mean that you are removing a built-in safeguard. Would you remove the blow off valve from an air compressor, which builds less than 1% of the pressure? If you’re like many and would prefer to reinstall a new pressure relief valve, order this genuine OE Bosch unit for years of trouble-free service.
