K&N Air Filters

High Flow, High Performance Air Filters,Made by K&N

K&N graphic

Oregon Fuel Injection is a distributor for K&N. The K&N filter is one of a kind . . . a high-flow, washable filter that delivers the maximum amount of air possible into your engine while providing superior filtering. K&N filters are made of cotton gauze material (instead of paper) sandwiched between two layers of the fine aluminum mesh which creates a grid-like effect, straightening and cleaning the air, resulting in dramatic airflow increases. This translates into improved power throughout the entire RPM range. Horsepower improvements vary, but as you can see from the dyno chart, a 5 to 10 horsepower increase is common.

All this, plus you will never have to buy another filter again! K&N filters can be cleaned over and over and are backed by a million mile warranty!

K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kits (FIPK)

Fuel Injection Performance Kits

In the K&N tradition of engineering power, the K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK) dramatically reduces intake restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and torque throughout the engine's RPM range, with even greater power gains in turbocharged and supercharged engines. FIPKs are available for many popular performance vehicles, and are designed to replace the original air filter case without jeopardizing important emission standards. Exempted by the California Air Resource Board, FIPKs make it possible to experience the rapid acceleration of enhanced air flow while meeting the tough emissions standards of C.A.R.B.. These FIPKs are washable, reusable and backed by K&N's unique 10 year Million Mile Limited Warranty.

THE FIPK DESIGN CONCEPT:
The FIPK was designed to promote performance in fuel injected stock engines by creating air filtration with the least resistance in air flow. The benefit of low resistance air filters can be felt directly in throttle response. In addition to the filter, these kits have uniquely designed adapters. These adapters create a radius entry which reduces restriction and allows the engine to ingest an even greater volume of air. To design such an assembly, two factors must be considered: the air filtering element and the air filter adapter. The FIPK combines a precision high flow K&N air filter element with other necessary components, depending on the specific application. K&N's Generation II represents yet another evolution in air intake technology. These break-through engineering designs contain all the performance improvements you expect from K&N - but with even greater benefits. What is truly remarkable about the Generation II kits is that they consistently achieve incredible horsepower gains even under varying atmospheric conditions. This process is accomplished by replacing the entire air intake tract, thus isolating the cold air and directing the air through this truly unique chamber delivery system. This process may or may not include a heat shield. In fact, during testing on a Jeep Grand Cherokee we had repeat gains of 26.3 horsepower. We also have dyno test results showing torque increases through the towing ranges of no less than 23 ft. lbs.

THE FIPK EFFECT:
Replacing the O.E.M. factory air cleaner assembly with a precision engineered K&N FIPK or the Generation II, will provide fully maximized air flow potential, creating an instant throttle response to please any performance enthusiast. Because they meet the standards of the C.A.R.B., FIPK's come with a high temperature label that contains an E.O. number. FIPK's are the results of K&N's Engineering vision and excellence: the vision to create environmentally sound performance products and the excellence to stand behind those products. To ensure all the power and performance that your fuel injected stock engine is capable of giving, install a high quality K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit and feel the power in the air! What does this mean to you? You get better acceleration, instant power, and ease in lane changing and passing even while towing by installing our FIPK Generation II. K&N gives you performance that will last for 10 years or one million miles, and we guarantee it!

Cleaning Instructions

1. PRE-CLEANING

Tap the element to dislodge any lodge embedded dirt, then gently brush with a soft bristle brush.
(Note: If complete cleaning is not practical at this time, re-oil the element and re-install in your vehicle.)

2. SPRAY ON CLEANER

Spray K&N air filter cleaner liberally onto the entire element and let soak for 10 minutes.

3. PAN CLEANING

Large K&N elements can be rolled or soaked in a shallow pan of K&N air filter cleaner. Remove immediately and let sit for approximately 10 minutes.

4. CLEANING HINTS
Use only K&N air filter cleaner.
NO gasoline cleaning.
NO steam cleaning.
NO caustic cleaning solution.
NO strong detergents.
NO high pressure car wash.
NO parts cleaning solvents.
Any of these NO's can cause harm to the gauze filter media, plus shrink and harden the rubber end caps.

5. RINSE OFF

Rinse off the element with low water pressure, tap water is OK. Always flush from the clean side to dirty side. This removes the dirt and does not drive it into the filter.

6. DRYING HINTS
Always dry naturally. After
rinsing, shake off all excess
water and let the element
dry naturally.
DO NOTuse compressed air.
DO NOT use open flame.
DO NOT use heat dryers.
Excess heat will shrink the
cotton filter media. Compressed air will blow holes in the element.

7. AEROSOL OILING

After cleaning air filter always re-oil
before using. Spray K&N air filter oil
down into each pleat with one pass per pleat. Wait 20 minutes and re-oil any white spots still showing.

8. SQUEEZE BOTTLE OILING

After cleaning air filter always re-oil before using. Squeeze K&N air filter oil down into the bottom and along each pleat in only one pass per pleat. Let oil wick into cotton for 20 minutes. Re-oil any white spots still showing.

9. OILING HINTS
Never use a K&N air filter
without oiling. (The filter will
not stop the dirt without the oil.)
Use only K&N formulated air
filter oil. K&N air filter oil is a
compound of mineral oil blended with special polymers to form a very efficient tack barrier. Red dye is added to show just where you have applied the oil. Eventually the red color will fade but the oil will remain and filter the air.

 NEVER USE Automatic Transmission Fluid
NEVER USE Motor Oil NEVER USE Diesel Fuel NEVER USE WD-40, LPS, or other light weight oils.

10. REINSTALL

Re-install your K&N air filter element with proper care. Make sure the element seats properly in the filter case. Install the cover making sure it's in the right position. Tighten all the nuts, bolts, screws or clips to factory specifications.

11. DO NOT DISCARD

Affix the "Do Not Discard" sticker to the filter case (included with every K&N replacement element). Make sure you put the sticker in a highly visible place to alert your mechanic not to discard.

12. PERFORMANCE HINTS
1) Service every 50,000 -100,000 miles on street driven applications.
2) Service often in off-road or heavy dust conditions or when air filter reaches 18" of restrictions.
3) Let the dirt "build-up" work for you; it will not hurt the performance and actually help filter the air.
CAUTION:
Extreme fine dust in agriculture or off-road use will pull the oil
from the element. Frequent re-oiling of the element's clean side might be required. Completely service when practicable. For extra protection use K&N sealing grease on rubber ends of the element. Service only with K&N air filter cleaner and K&N air filter oil.
